What is a Celtic Geek?

Years ago, I heard Emerald Rose, a Celtic band from Georgia, was performing at a science fiction convention. I thought, "Why on earth would a Celtic band play there? How bizarre!" I called up I-Con Science Fiction Convention in New York and asked if they would book my band, the Brobdingnagian Bards. They woman was already a fan of our music. She found us through MP3.com. She hired us on the spot.

When we arrived, we found geeks everywhere. And not just any sort of geeks. They were Celtic geeks, people who loved Celtic music and culture... just like us, but who also loved sci fi and fantasy and Renaissance festivals... just like us. There was also a musical style called filk, which had a heavy Celtic base, just like our music. It was a mind-blowing experience!

This podcast celebrates the Celtic Geeks and also shares my involvement in the promotion of Celtic music and geek culture.

However, I don't want this show to be just about me. I want it to celebrate ALL Celtic Geeks by adding your Recommendations that others in our community should know about.

We all have our personal fandoms. I want you to share yours with other Celtic Geeks.

Supported By Your Generosity

I record Celtfather Music & Travel for you. However, it is made possible due to the generous support of my Gunn Runners Club on Patreon. These kind folks recognize that the music industry is changing. CD and digital sales are plummeting. That means my primary source of income is vanshing...

Patronage is now the wave of the future. However, it has changed since the time of the great Irish harper, Turlough O'Carolan and Amadeus Mozart.

You can pledge just $5 (or more) per month and become a patron of the arts. Because of your generosity, you can help me make a living as a musician. When a few dozen of people donate monthly, it becomes possible for me to support my family and make the music I love to share.

Best of all, your $5 donation gets you a LOT of awesome new content every month.

Thanks as always for supporting my music. Streaming music gives you a quick and easy way to sample all of my music. Digital sales keep my business running. Tips and CD sales allow me to tour. Kickstarter funds physical products like CDs, shirts and other merch. And Patreon funds my songwriting!

And of course, your generosity allows me to keep publishing this podcast every couple o'weeks.
